Yuni Jie embraces modern design with touches drawn from local sensibility. She has collaborated with well-known Indonesian manufacturers to produce exclusive kitchen, carpet, home accessories and furniture lines. This time with Sekata Living, a Jakarta base creative studio who specialize in curated wallcovering, she designed a series of Paper-weave Wallcovering entitled ANYAM.
The word ANYAM which means ‘to weave’ in Indonesian represents a harmonious blend of East and West. Something that she really is passionate about, interlacing old and new, exploring traditional and contemporary. It comes together in an uncluttered warmth that is at once urban and effortless. The richness of this collection is a celebration of Craft and the beauty of traditional Indonesian weaving techniques. It takes inspirations from various different look from different regions of the archipelago. From Kalimantan to West Java, she is able to translate the visual language into something that is simple, warm and approachable. Through this body of work, Yuni balances the play of pattern that visually dance with light, shadow and strong composition.
ANYAM consists of seven wallcovering motifs that can be applied easily in both residential and commercial setting. A versatile design that speaks a humble tone and understated state of mind. A carefully curated compilation that truly shows her love as a proud Indonesian.

Yuni Jie is an acclaimed interior and product designer, celebrated for her casual elegant style through Jie Design. Educated at Cornish College of the Arts and Pratt Institute New York, Yuni has also written several bestselling books on interior design. Her extensive work has appeared in many prestigious publications. The award-winning designer is recognized for its timeless design philosophy. She believes in a modern spirit where the essence of function and precision speaks for itself. Through her strong role as female designer figure in Indonesia, her inspiring contribution plays a big part in the evolution of contemporary design in general.
A philanthropist at heart, she believes that design acts as a vehicle and holistic solution that she utilizes to improve human’s quality of life. Strong level of humanity and awareness that she carries encouraged her to apply her talent in many design fields and founded a design-based social project in May 2017, One Fine Sky.
This non-profit organization focuses on empowering children to continue their education. Her concern as a mother raises the urge to give back to the students in need located at rural areas. The project aims to give hope and vision by providing new uniforms for them to wear proudly, allowing them to go to school in renewed confidence. Running a movement that infuses design as its main element has been her passion and dream for a long time. One Fine Sky draws huge support and gains good respect from prominent creative industry figures in Indonesia. Her distinct and stylish way to do her part and contribute to the society in general is one of a kind and unique, yet powerful. She lives by ‘Let’s do good look good’ motto.
This inspiring collaboration not only brings breath of fresh air into Indonesia’s interior design scene but also brings a spark of joy and social impact for the underprivileged students. Through good design, good things can and should follow too. With a strong and good intention, both Sekata Living and Yuni Jie is committed to share some of the sales’ proceed of this collection, which will be converted in a form of fresh school uniforms distributed by One Fine Sky.
