Chinoiserie Collections

Chinoiserie has always been the staple of wall arts since the 18th century.

This chapter is divided by two design; Nature and Peranakan.

Nature

In Nature design, Sekata incorporated drawings of special birds that define the characteristics of the Indonesian fauna to this classic style: Jalak Bali, Cendrawasih, and Rangkong.

Cendrawasih - Silk Blue

Cendrawasih Biru as the accent in this design is one of Indonesia’s birds of paradise. Originated from Papua New Guinea, the male bird has two sets of white half circle around their eyes, wings fabricated with vibrant blue and purple feather, black oval pattern with red trim around its chest and on its tail a couple of black string with blue rounded end.

Jalak Bali - Renaissance Grey

Jalak Bali - Calm Rose

Jalak Bali - Pewter Grey

Jalak Bali as the only character that dominates this design is an Indonesian bird that can only be found in the island of Bali. This critically endangered bird has almost wholly white feather with a long, drooping crest, black tips on the wings and tail, and blue bare skin around the eyes.

This design is hand drawn and includes three-color option.

Peranakan

For Peranakan design, the everyday life of the early Chinese Peranakan folk in Indonesia is visualized with the contemporary doodle style of drawing.

Peranakan Doodle - Natural Black

Peranakan Doodle - Ceramic Red

Peranakan Doodle - Royal Blue

Everyday activity of the early Chinese Peranakan folk illustrated with doodles, bringing a contempo- rary feel to this classic wallpaper style.
